My journey so far
Being Area Manager was always my dream
I have come a long way with LloydsPharmacy, progressing from sales assistant to qualified dispenser and then on to managing my own branches, first in Waltham Abbey and then in Witham. Along the way, I have also spent time as Area Change Coach and Area Support Coach. But Area Manager is the role I have been working towards for a long time now, so I was over the moon when I was offered the job.
Practice makes perfect
A lot of the learning I have done with LloydsPharmacy has been on the job. However, there are a number of training courses I have taken part in that have really helped me develop my knowledge and skills. These include two leadership courses: “Leading Everyday” and “Leading Leaders”. Earlier in my career, I also went through the LloydsPharmacy dispenser course, which enabled me to become a qualified dispenser.
The value of mentors
I have had two main mentors at LloydsPharmacy, both of whom have showed real belief in my abilities and future potential. One was my previous line manager, who I worked with on a daily basis and who gave me exposure to field management and helped me develop into the area manager I am today. The other is my current line manager, who also encouraged me in my bid to become an area manager by giving me projects that he knew would challenge and stretch me.
