My journey so far
I qualified as a pharmacist in 2015 when I started my career with Boots as a relief pharmacist. In 2017 I took on a store pharmacist position.
Finding new roles within the business is widely encouraged. I feel I can always talk to other staff members, colleagues and my managers about my progress. When I moved into my new role, a full month of training was provided by MASTA which included foundation training days, shadowing clinics run by other clinicians and even leading my own clinics with supervision from a trained clinician. I also had access to extensive online training. Not to mention the mentors and trainers that I have access to during my probation period.
Something new everyday
As lead pharmacist and CQR Registered Manager at MASTA, my role has a lot of variety and I get to be part of different operational areas within the business. From providing consultations for travel health, occupational health surveillance and case management, to general management of the clinics to meet CQC standards; my job is all about ensuring operations run effectively and efficiently at all times. Occasionally I get to pass on my knowledge by supporting in training other clinicians.
My proudest achievement in my career so far is becoming a CQC Registered Manager.
Always moving forward
In the future I hope to gain professional qualifications to become an independent prescriber, and possibly a specialist in travel health by doing the diploma on tropical diseases. I know that this is something that the company would support me to do.
